Hey there guys! I am currently in the middle of taking my exams but I just wanted to have another post on studying because I feel that my first one was based on my opinions and not on real facts or things that may actually be helpful. This time around, I have been researching and I have compiled this set of things to do.
1. Give yourself enough time to study.
This is really important because even though your phone or your computer is calling your name, DO NOT let procrastination get the best of you. Cramming will not benefit you in the long run. Which leads me to the next step.
2. Create a revision (review) timetable.
It is really important to budget your time so that you can cover everything that will come out because the feeling that you get when you`re sitting and taking your exams and suddenly you see something that you didn`t study for because you didn`t have time or because you didn`t know that it was included. ( Yes, I am speaking from experience on this one.)
3. Calm Down.
Now that you`ve seen how much you need to get covered, you might start doubting yourself (your willpower). Remember that you probably have some knowledge about the subject so al you need to do is polish it and maybe do some reconstruction .
4.Organize your study space.
Make sure that the lighting is just right. You don`t want them to be too dim or too bright. ( I rhymed!) Make sure your space is neat and you`ve got enough space for your materials and school stuff.
5. Rewrite your notes to help you with your memory.
I find talking to myself like I`m teaching others very helpful and just writing it down can be really helpful too. It will also refresh your memory. You`ve taken down notes some time ago and rewriting it will just be like pressing that refresh button in your head.
6. Find the right time
Make sure that you do not study when you`re tired because that will do you no good. You need to study when you feel physically `ready`. also you will most probably forget what you have learned.
7. Studying for different subjects call for different studying techniques.
If you`re studying for another language then try to just memorize and understand your study materials. Once you`ve understood, it will be easier to remember how to write it or anything like that. If you`re studying for a math test then actually do the problems and try to just get the gist of things.
7. Take breaks.
After an hour or so try to take breaks because it will be very very very appreciated and when you`re staring at your books all day you tend to stop processing thing and that is not going to be pretty. I guarantee it.
8. Review your notes.
It`s better to be safe than sorry so review and just hope for the best. You`d benefit from it and it will help you more than if you`re just going to sit around all day.
TIPS !
– Drink plenty of water
– Snack on `brain food`
– Start out by studying the most important information.
– Learn the general concepts first.
CRAMMING TIPS
I do not recommend this but sometimes you just have to.
– An apple does a better job at keeping you focused and awake than caffeine.
– Write down the key ideas/formulas on a sheet of paper and keep on studying from that sheet.
– Study from past tests, review questions, homework & review sheets.
– Since your time is limited, you have to choose what you study.
